Demise of a Faithful Friend

No - don't worry - not a human friend - this friend is my faithful coffee machine.  I suppose it is about 20 years old, and the matching kettle I bought with it gave up the ghost long ago.

Actually the machine itself is still functioning perfectly but, as with many electrical appliances, it's not the main part that is the problem.  I suppose it's my fault really...  I put the jug and lid in the dishwasher, and when I emptied the dishwasher, the lid was nowhere in sight.  I found it right at the bottom, melted and stuck to the heating element!

Now it looks like this...

melted lid

...and the jug is now topless

Swan coffee maker AR1...

Of course, spare lids are not available; I could buy a whole new jug and lid for just under £13, or a WHOLE NEW machine for just under £18, but I'm just going to use it topless for the time being!

Now, that lid is some work of art! You should frame it...

Try looking around some of the secondhand shops (charity shops?) they often have things like that for pennies, that you could buy for the lid.
