Knitting and Sewing

Miffy for Molly

When I gave Molly the Hello Kitty toy I had knitted for her, she asked if I could also make Miffy - we were reading the book Miffy at the Seaside, by Dick Bruna.  I thought I could use the same pattern with different ears...

...it didn't turn out as well I'd hoped - I guess toys just aren't my strong point!

Still, Molly is a very appreciative audience and has never criticised anything I've made so far, so I guess she'll like it!

One Sheet to the Wind

Toria gave me an old duvet cover last week, with the request that I cut it up and overlock the edges to make dusters for her.  It was pure cotton, but had washed very soft and worn thin and been repaired in places.  However, the top was so beautifully embroidered, I couldn't bear to cut it up, so I only did the bottom, which was plain.  Today I overlocked round the top; my idea is to then turn over the edges and sew them to make a cloth I can use at fairs when I sell my stuff.

Other than that, I'm not sure what I could do with it - but I'm certainly not making it into dusters.  Sacrilege!
