Blanket Update and a Nightshirt...

Today the weather is hot and sunny again.  Not the best weather for crocheting a blanket.  But I got this far with it last night...

progress to 31st July 13

I particularly like the little bobbles...

...though I completely changed the pattern for them.  Firstly, as mine is such a little blanket, I needed them much closer together   Secondly, following the pattern they just turned out as flat.  These ones look pretty good, I think.

Just trying to sew in some ends before I do any more.  Tonight, if it's a bit cooler...

Meanwhile I'm trying to get to grips with my sewing machine - remember the Safety Glasses pouches?

They didn't turn out too badly - I just need to keep practising.

So I decided to make some clothes for my Sasha and Gregor dolls.  I have a book of patterns, so transferred some onto paper.  I chose the easiest first - a nightshirt.  I used the same French sheeting as for the pouches and pinned out the pieces...

So far I have just cut them out - and I've already managed to lose a piece!

OK - I've just found it - in the pile of left-over material.

So now I have all the bits ready to sew...

...and, to be honest, it looks as if it's going to be a really boring garment. Still, it is all practice, which I badly need.  I have never seen a Sasha doll dressed in a nightshirt and now I know why!

But it's hot, and I'm tired, so I'm just going to sit down with a cup of tea and mull things over.

Love your projects Penny. It's funny that thats how you're feeling cos I've just sat down with a cuppa feeling just the same.

Maybe she could have a bit of lace or ribbon added to make it a bit special?

LOL at this rate, you're not going to have any bed sheets left to put on the bed!! ;)
I think practice makes perfect, it won't be long before you're making these nightshirts with pintucks and lace and they'll be beautiful!
I love the progress on the blanket, it looks so pretty and colourful. I made some of those little bobbles once....they came out like 'mistakes'!! Yours look perfect!
