From Batts to Brocante

Yesterday I spent the day at a local brocante, in the small town of Bussiere-Poitevine.  I was helping on a friend's stall - she raises money for the HOPE organisation who, in turn, donate all the funds raised to local animal welfare charities.

Of course, I had to look round at the other stallholders and bought one or two irresistible items:

A pretty candle lantern...

Brass and cut-glass candle lantern

...which I am in the process of polishing up when I get some more brass cleaner!

A hand-stitched picture of Holland - where I visited the Keukenhof Gardens last May...

A great clock...

I love these hand-made metal things - see my cat towel rack which I use as a key and general stuff holder - made in the same way...

 Cat hanger

And a couple of pretty Italian coffee cups...

2 pretty coffee cups

...just because they WERE so pretty!

Although the day started off so cold that we were all wearing coats, in the afternoon the sun came out and I found, when I got home, that I was actually SUNBURNT! Amazing for September.

Today I spun the batts I made on Saturday and I'm pleased with the result so far.  This is the singles yarn (I've yet to ply it) from the purpl-ey batts...

There is not much of it, so I think I'll try and ply it with something else.

And this is the turquoisey one...

...though there is a bit more of this to spin yet.

What great finds Penny! I particularly like the clock, but the rest of the things are gorgeous too. Your yarn has come along nicely, I love the colours and look forward to seeing what you do next with them!
