5th November - V Day!!!

So, you're asking, how did it go?

Well, a builder turned up - not M Virondeau but his foreman Jean-Luc. He started on the insulation in the roof and, in fact, finished it by the end of the day. However, M Virondeau was apparently doing chimney sweeping! I do feel I come rather after the back of the queue.

Still - I can feel the benefit straight away - it's much warmer when the door is open into the middle room.

While he was here it was a chapter of accidents as he dropped things and talked to himself in a loud voice. At least twice I went up the ladder to ask if everything was OK!
Once he managed to push a brick out of the wall between the two rooms and it fell down into the kitchen. Fortunately it landed on my oven gloves and bounced on to the floor! It was like a bad day in Fawlty Towers! All the time stuff was falling down into the rooms below, but, hopefully this won't happen any more once all the ceilings are in!

Tomorrow, hopefully, the electrician is coming to lay in his cables, before the plasterboard ceiling goes in, but I don't have much confidence that this will actually happen without any further delay. At least Jean-Luc has something else to do - beefing up the floor - if the electrician is on another job. I'll let you know what happens!

I have finally arranged French lessons - starting next Thursday - as I really am frustrated at not being able to speak fluently and find out what is going on. Watch this space!
