Number One
I had it fixed in my mind that the wood man was delivering today, but he didn't arrive so I rang and left a message. Then I noticed that, although it was written BIG in my Filofax, it was actually on TUESDAY! ...
So I had to ring and leave another message...
Number Two
I told Sandra I couldn't take her to the knitting group this afternoon as I was taking Ian over to La Tache to look at some doors that might do for the cupboard he is going to build in the kitchen. We left later than I had planned, and then I completely forgot that I had said I would be going later and would bring her back! I remembered when we got home - which was about 20 past 4 (the meeting finishes at 4). I looked at my mobile to see if she had rung but it had switched itself off, being low on battery (so it said) although I had charged it overnight just the day before yesterday. I found a snippet of conversation from her, just saying " no it's just on answerphone..." so I knew she had tried to get hold of me, and the time it said was 4.08.
I rang back (to the Maison Bleue where the meeting had been) but she had left - being given a lift home by another of the ladies. By this time it was 25 to 5 so I rang her home. It rang for a while and then her husband answered (apparently he had just got in) and she wasn't there. He thought he might have to go and pick her up but I explained she had got a lift home and would be there any minute. I asked him to pass on my abject apologies....
On the Plus Side...
The doors were OK, so we put them in the van and brought them back, and a man arrived in the morning delivering a table I had bought on Saturday at a Brocante in Rancon. It is for my sewing machine and overlocker.
...I do sometimes wonder if I'm not inching towards senility...
