Donner und Blitzen

No - not Santa's reindeer - the real thing!

This morning dawned clear, bright and sunny. I pooh-poohed the weather forecast I had read yesterday which foretold doom, gloom, thunder, lightning and rain and went out to Le Dorat under sunny skies - a lovely Spring day....

But later that afternoon the weather darkened and, by early evening this was the view from my kitchen door...

Strange cloud formations over the Monts de Blond and hugely loud rumbles of thunder that shook the panes of glass in the door until I was afraid they would break. Strangely, very little rain - just a few heavy drops -and by 6 pm the storm had passed me by with no more problem than brief disturbances in my Internet access and some problems with the telephone.

But it is strangely scarey, this kind of weather, especially when you are on your own. Thank goodness for knitting - I beavered away at Fiona's socks...

...wondering if the power would go off and glad that my iPod would continue to play me my audiobook for many long hours without having to be connected into the mains electrickery!
