Washcloth Knitting

Today I started my first knitted washcloth. I've crocheted them, but I ordered some variegated yarn that pools badly when crocheted, so I thought I'd try knitting one. I searched the free patterns for an interesting texture and found the perfect pattern - the "Infamous" Darrell Waltrip cloth by Rhonda K. White.

As she says in the instructions, the horizontal bars formed in the pattern really help to break up the colour blocks you get when knitting with a multicoloured yarn.

Is it absorbent enough to be used as a washcloth? I thought they were made of towelling...

Yes - it's pure cotton and much nicer than the thin towelling that you buy.
