I've been working on it all summer, in the hot weather, when it was a totally unsuitable project - but I just wanted to get it finished. I started it at the beginning of June, and then there was a wait till the second lot of yarn arrived, so I suppose it hasn't actually been that long...
Anyway - here it is in all its glory...
...and only one mistake...
...when I added the shell edging, I made less stitches on one short edge than the other! It took me a while, smoothing the blanket out on the bed and finding the top end was narrower than the bottom end, before I finally worked out what I'd done wrong! However, I'm not going to take it all back again, even though I'm generally a bit of a perfectionist with my work.
I really like the edging, which consists of various dc (British English terminology) rows with a final shell row of dc, miss 2 sts, 7tr into next st, miss 2 sts; repeated.
So - now something to use up all those little balls left over...
Looks great and I certainly wouldn't have unpicked it either!

So nice to meet you! I love your granny stripe afghan! Have a nice weekend! Twyla
ReplyDeleteI love it!! No one would know about the mistake - but it is annoying after all that hard work isn't it!
ReplyDeleteI have also just finished mine and am using all my leftover wool crocheting licorice allsorts!!
Worth all your hard work - its beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteYour granny stripe really came out pretty. The shell edging really looks elegant. I'm still at mine...I hope to be finished by the time it gets chilly here in So Cal, well as chilly as it ever gets:)
ReplyDeleteIt must make you smile every time you enter the room! Very satisfying and scrumptious .... and no one would know about the "mistake" if you don't tell them! I would like to think of doing one myself, but think I would not be able to stick to doing such long rows!
ReplyDeleteHope you find some pretty flowers or something for the bits and pieces!
