Rainy Weather

Seems like the UK has had this rainy spell too, but that's no consolation.  Yes, we needed the rain for the gardens, but it COULD have fallen just at night, or on alternate days with sunshine in between....

My Mum always said that cows lie down when it's going to rain - and look at these...

cows lying down

...they know what's coming!  Actually, the last few days they've been pushed to find a time when they can get up!

But it HAS done the garden good. A rose that was practically dead from the drought in May has recovered and is flowering...

... the lavender likewise ...

The weeds in the gravel have also enjoyed this wet weather...

...and I'm afraid I've had to have them sprayed with weedkiller, which is really against my principles, but they were threatening to take over! Now I guess I'll have to pull them up to neaten the place up.

The painting has had to stop - and this old door shutter will have to wait for a day or two...

...I daren't risk taking it off the hinges to paint it indoors - it might just fall to pieces!

My hosta is lapping up all this water...

...I think it's so wet the snails can't climb up the pot!

But still the view is beautiful from the kitchen door...

...can you see the hills reflected in the glass?

STRING BAG GIVEAWAY

I'm a bit disappointed that only one person is interested in my string bag giveaway. (Thank you Angela for being that one person). Perhaps it's Blogger, stopping comments again.  If so you can always email me and I'll add your name.

It almost feels like early autumn here, I think we had our summer in April..........missed your giveaway, too busy on the sewing machine to blog read, just resurfaced for and grabbed an hour on the computer with a coffee, but would love to enter now if that's ok........I have downloaded your string bag pattern from ravelry but goodness knows when I'll get the time to make one.

I have downloaded your pattern, but felt it was too cheeky to enter the giveaway as I am seeing you next week!

How odd- yesterday the bag labelled 'blue and gold' looked distinctly Deep Grey on my |PC - but today it is a much clearer blue [and gold ] somewhat like the skies over Leicestershire yesterday and today. It is still my favourite of the three!!

Well, I'm interested too! Maybe the giveaway is over! I was running though my list of foreign blogs and thought I'd stop in for a moment. Always work to be done around the house, isn't there?

I'm sure there were many more who would have loved the chance to win one of your lovely bags but are probably like me and read your blog through google reader and therefore don't qualify.
And there are probably more who haven't had a chance to read their favourite blogs yet.
Your bags and your blog are lovely!
cheers
