A Small Commission

A few weeks ago my son asked me to make a little gift for the newly-arrived baby girl of some friends. He thought bootees or a hat, but I had other ideas...  I had been waiting for the chance to make the Baby Belle cardigan from Cosymakes.  I liked it because it was different.  Giles didn't want me to knit anything pink, as he thought they would have lots of that, so I looked through my stash and found two yarns that I thought would be very effective together.

And here's the finished article!

I wanted the closure to be simple, so I crocheted an edging and made ties with twisted cords.

The bouclĂ© was a bit tricky to knit with, but I like the effect.  I doubled the Sirdar denim that I used for the contrast, as it was a bit thin.

It is a little chunky, but OK.  I think it looks more like a jacket than a cardigan and I'm sure it will be warm this winter (or now, if the weather doesn't get any warmer!).

That is so pretty now it is finished. I love baby clothes that are a little different.
