Hello!!!!!
It's been a while since I posted, as I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. But don't worry - I'm in London now and going to have treatment at King's College Hospital and it does not appear to be life-threatening. Tomorrow's consultation will give me treatment options, but meanwhile life goes on as usual, and I have been knitting!
First I started the Holden Shawlette and as an antidote to that I made catnip mice for the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. I've done 8 mice so far and just started my second shawlette.
Here's the shawlette:
...and here are the mice!
I did the edge stitches a little too tight on the shawlette and I can't make the top edge stretch out flat, but I'm correcting that on the second one I'm making now.
I made the mice from odds and ends of sock wool and put some catnip in with the stuffing. They are rather cute and I hope the cats like them. I have a crochet pattern on Ravelry that is FREE if you would like to crochet some mice, but I thought I'd give this knitting one a try.
While in Southampton with my daughter and the grandchildren, we visited Hobbycraft. I quite liked a book about Coffee Cosies...
...but Max preferred to browse in the cross stitch material...
...must be in the genes...

OMG What a shock for you! I am glad to read that you are getting treatment so quickly, and hope that all goes smoothly xxxx
Penny, I'm sorry to hear that. I'll be praying for you.
I am sending you lots of positive healing vibes. Really hoping the treatment is manageable and works well.
Hugs,
A x

I was only thinking yesterday that it is unlike you to be so quiet. Hope everything goes well at the hospital - I'll be thinking of you.
What an upset for you - good that you are so positive about it. Best of luck with your treatment - hope it all goes well. I love the little cross stitch fan!!x Jo
I am thinking very Positive and Good Energy Thoughts for a very speedy resolution with your treatments.
I love your shawl, great colors and a not-too-frilly lace pattern.
This summer has been my intro to knitting shawls. Upon seeing your shawlette, I followed your link to Rav and have downloaded the Holden Pattern.
Not too certain about those rather large mice [could be that they are rats for cats?]
So happy to see your back posting.
Extra hugs for you this morning,
Gerry
Thanks so much for letting us know. You're pretty impressively busy. I'm so glad that the cancer isn't a huge concern, but all things are relative, and you must still have some grotty moments thinking about it. My MIL has done brilliantly following surgery and treatment years ago, and I'll be praying that it all goes brilliantly for you too.
G'day Penny. I do wish you well. I will be thinking of you. The shawl is just gorgeous and the mice are so cute. Take care. Liz...
Obviously I am new to your blog but just wanted to say you will be in my prayers as well. Wishing you all the best with your treatment and wanted to say how much I admire your positive attitude. I believe that certainly goes a long way.
All the best,
Kerry
