Red Mittens and Mouse 2House...

Did I mention I was starting on some red cabled mitts -to sort of go with the Gretel beret? Well I used the merino red on its own and made the Emilie Mittens by Meg Hollar...

Emilie Mitten 2

...well, so far I've only made one, and it took longer than the foliage mitts, but maybe that's because I'm not used to the pattern yet.  I haven't sewn in the ends yet - and there are more than usual because I decided to add a little green stripe...

...and I haven't blocked it yet as I think I should block both together.  The cabling pulls the pattern in a lot, so at present it looks like this...

...but it makes for a very good fit.  The yarn is ICE merino, and is beautifully warm. I'm still undecided as to whether I should make the second one in reverse colours i.e. green with a red stripe.  What do you think?

Mouse2House

I did my very first online order last week, with Waitrose, and the groceries arrived today.  There is a firm here (just for this area) called Mouse2House who deliver the items to a pre-arranged point and you pick them up at a given time.  It is great for me, as I am vegetarian and cannot buy any vegetarian stuff, such as Quorn, here in France.  So I have stocked up on Quorn sausage, mince and 'chicken' pieces.  So now I can have a bit of variety in my diet!

For my lunch today I had Hovis crumpets with Cheddar cheese. Blissful!

Oh how I wish that service had been available when we lived in France!! Your needles must be red hot with the quantity of items you are producing these days?!

Loving all the mittens and Gretel berets. I'm knitting up Runrig Mitts at the mo and really beginning to feel like winter is around the corner!
