Reading Annies blog today (Knitsofacto) reminded me that I, too had a large Woods Ware jug. I thought that I, like Annie, would scour my garden for late flowers. I didn't have to look far - recent frosts had killed anything that was still battling on... The only flowers that were not wild (that means dandelions in my case) were these Cosmos, which I placed in my blue jug along with a piece of scented geranium that had been sheltered by the house wall...
Still, the jug IS very pretty and I must use it more...
Not that everything is finished in November - if you look past the flowers you can see a big container of reddish liquid with a Post-It sticker on the top. That is my sloe gin! I picked the sloes at the beginning of November and still have two containers in my freezer for the next lot! Only 6 months or so to wait...

You have one too!
I love slow gin, if you were closer I'd trade you some for some blackberry vodka ;)
What a pretty jug that is.
That is the hard thing about sloe gin.......the time it takes!
G'day Penny. Love the jug. What are sloes? Sounds interesting. Take care. Liz...
I had promised sloes to a few friends but our crop was rubbish, only managed a couple of pounds so not all were lucky. Typically last year when no one asked we had loads.
It was really sunny today, a slight lull between storms. I really should have gone out and rescued a few late blooms.
