Poppy Baby Cloche Hat

I'm pleased to announce that this pattern is relatively error-free and easy to make. 



The only problem, really, is that there are no specific instructions on picking up stitches from the side of the garter stitch body of the hat to start the decreasings for the crown.

 ...you can see there is a raised edge around the top which, I think, is created by picking up the required number of stitches from just a little away from the actual edge of the knitted fabric on the INSIDE. I also thought of simply casting on the required stitches, doing the increasing etc to make a separate crown piece and then sewing the two together afterwards...

I actually picked up the stitches by working a row of dc (sc for those in the US) and then knitting into those.  It was easy to do and worked well.

I used mother-of-pearl buttons (my mother's name was Pearl and it is my second name) because I like them and have lots, and they look good on the cream yarn.
