Blackcurrant Sundae...

...even though it's only Saturday...

Blackcurrant 2

Blackcurrant 1

The main body of the shawlette is shetland I spun and then plied with a soft mercerised cotton.

Border, close

The border is a 70% merino, 30% silk hand-dyed (not by me) sock yarn which is light, soft and lustrous. I added a crochet picot border which is not in the pattern...

Border, close 2

Sort of off-topic, I have noticed a growing problem with my hands since starting to spin.  The arthritis in my index fingers on both hands has worsened and I am now also experiencing aches and small shooting pains in my right forearm, which I fear may be the start of carpal tunnel syndrome.  I hope that some rest will help, and I will have to look into some ways of dealing with both these problems before they get any worse.  Giving up spinning, knitting and crochet is not an option...

Gorgeous. I love the almost Fairisle look of the edging.

Love your shawl Penny but really sympathise with you about the arthritis. The way I get round mine is to alternate the crafts I do so different joints get used and some then get a rest in between....Knitting causes me pain at times so then I sew :-)

Lovely shawl Penny. Blackberry Sundae describes it to a T.

Unfortunately, arthritis is something that catches up with all of us in the end. I tend to alternate my crafts too. Not so much as to alleviate pain, although I do get twinges every now and then, but for a bit of variety :)

Lovely shawl Penny, beautiful yarn.

Sorry to here about the joints. Learning a bit of self massage is helpful.
OH, and I've also heard that apple cider vinegar helps.

cheers

Beautigful colours and I love the pattern. Artty is such a bugbear he gives us sooo much pain. It is in my fingers also.

Take care
Cheers Pauline

Such pretty colours :)

I do hope you can find a solution for your hands. I have rheumatoid arthritis and do have to be careful about how much knitting I do. But as you say, stopping altogether isn't an option.

G'day Penny. That looks fabulous. Love the colours you have used. Hope it's not carpal tunnel Penny. Take care. Liz...

Pretty spinning and pretty shawl. I love those colors.

I learned the hard way that my spinning has a time limit of 30 minutes per session, if I want to be able to get up and walk afterward. The time limit also keeps the arthritis/CTS in my hands from flaring up.

But if I go do something else for an hour or so, I can sneak in another session. Switching up drafting methods helps too. Unfortunately there's only one way to treadle...

Beautiful Penny, this shawl and the orange one are definately the best so far. Your handspun yarn is fantastic, you have a real eye for colour combinations xxxx
