About a year ago I promised my daughter that I would make some cacti to decorate a certain shelf in her school. (She's a teacher). But somehow I baulked at the prospect - I just couldn't work up any enthusiasm so I ignored the whole thing, hoping it would go away. Of course, it didn't...
So currently, after a rather pointed reminder, I am working on a series of 10 cacti, in 14cm pots. I thought I'd show you some pictures.
I have done eight so far and am currently working on the ninth so the finish line is in sight!
She also wanted the flowers to be in the school 'house' colours of green, yellow, blue and red, which stretches the mind somewhat as I have never seen green or blue flowers on cacti (other than those glued on the tiny ones in the local greengrocers!)
It's pouring with rain outside today, so i don't think I'm going anywhere until it stops. I've lit the woodburner in the kitchen and the little portable gas heater in the living room, so I'm just going to be knitting for a while until No.10 Cactus is done and dusted!

They made me laugh! Lovely.
Well, those are interesting. I'm not a cactus person myself, I think they must be the most unfriendly plant ever, but at least yours would not prick anyone's skin. Yours are the only cactus I'd ever want around!
They are perfect. :-)
They are so cute Penny, and very realistic, I think you've done a great job on them, I really do!
You daughter will be thrilled I'm sure!
xx
Hello Penny,
Wow I love your new plants, have downloaded crochet patterns for them but never got around to making them up. Your daughter will be most pleased with them. The best thing about them is you can touch them!
Happy days.
Bev.
