Snow Geese

I was sitting drinking coffee in the garden this evening when there was a noise that made me look up to the sky. Pat said it was Snow Geese, and they herald the end of winter! A welcome sight (although I could have told them winter would end soon, and even lent them a calendar if they'd asked).

I took some photos, but they were high up...

You can just see their V formation on the left in this photo...

...and you may need to click to enlarge this photo, where they are just about over the oak tree.

Chainsaw Massacre

Most of the day I've been out with my chainsaw, cutting up the wood that was on the pile in the front garden. It's been dry for so long, I need to get it done before the weather breaks - which the Meteo says may be Monday.

This is what the pile looked like before I started...

...and this is what it was like when I finished...

I have cleared quite a lot and, if I can move at all tomorrow after all that bending and lifting, I'll carry on and do some more. It's stacked in the dependances, as you can see in these pictures below.

It may not look much to you, but it represents several hours of hard work to me!
