It's Richard's birthday today - he would have been 48. Instead, he died at only 45. Love is a strange thing - you may think you're in love many times, but when the one true love comes, you know it. Richard was my one true love - always and forever.
He was thoughtful, kind, loving, caring, funny, clever, hard-working and could do anything he put his mind to. He loved his work - fixing cars gave him a buzz and he was brilliant at it. He loved his garden and enjoyed growing things and watching his plants develop. He loved making things - especially out of wood, and built two sheds, an arbour, a greenhouse, a cold frame and a hot box for seedlings in our garden and an arbour in Toria's garden in Southampton.

He loved sailing and we hired a boat in the Greek Islands for some of our holidays, and that was an idyllic time.
