When Father Papered the Parlour...

...it was a bit like that here this afternoon.  I wanted to sew some buttons onto card for the Table Top sale tomorrow but, of course, I had no card.  I had some pretty paper, some sheets of card and some spray glue so I set out to make my own card.  Easy peasy!  Or so I thought.

home-made button cards

First - Health and Safety.  Advice on the can was to make sure I was in a well-ventilated space, so of course I decided on my front room (actually that's the ONLY room).  Well, there's plenty of space as the cottage is open-plan, but no table to work on. I decided I could stand up and spray the card, then put it on the floor (wood block) and place the paper on it.  No Problem!

Well, just a slight one - when you spray glue it doesn't just go on the paper, but into the atmosphere too and then settles on the floor.  So that, when you place the card on the floor and the pretty paper on the card, you find that the whole thing is actually stuck to the floor! When you have peeled it off (thanking your lucky stars that the one you bought was 're-positionable') you find that your slippers are now stuck to the floor and that each step you take sticks you to a new piece of floor...

So, you make a few cards and sew on a few buttons...

...but you really don't have enough (even after a WHOLE afternoon) to fill the candelabra you have decided to display them on...

...so you decide to make some more.  You need more card too...

A brilliant idea comes to you - it has stopped raining - you could do this OUTSIDE!  So out you go with card, paper and spray glue.  The first piece is successful.  HOORAY!!!  The next piece falls out of your hands just after you have sprayed it all over with glue...

...and, of course, the floor (it is the garden, after all) is dirty and covered in leaves...

Hilarious, it sounds like one of my days, when something that starts out being easy ends up creating havoc at every turn, hope ypu managed to fill your candlelabra.......minus leaves and bits of twig.
