Recycling

It's been a busy day!

I got up at 7.30am and recycled the weeds in the garden.  That is to say, I forked them all out into a couple of green plastic sacks and from there they will go to the déchetterie when I'm back, and I think they compost them and use the finished compost on the communal gardens...

Then I went over to Le Dorat to La Maison Bleue...

La Maison Bleue

...which is a café now run by Zoe. Yesterday she kindly offered to let me put some of the brocante items left from the Chez Penny shop out on a table.  Tomorrow is the Journée Artisanale in Le Dorat, you see, and there will be lots of people there and, hopefully, coming in to La Maison Bleue for a coffee and a piece of Zoe's home-made cake. Hopefully some of my brocante items will be recycled by having a second life with a new owner!

Before that, earlier this morning I turned out all the shelves in my wardrobe looking for a pair of trousers and decided there was nothing much there I wanted to keep!

Amongst the debris were 2 cardigans - one pink and one navy - that I thought could be pulled back for the yarn.  They're not in this picture, 'cos I already have them downstairs! I have already pulled back the pink one and wound the yarn into balls.  It started off like this...

...and the surface was very pilled...

It's 100% acrylic, but it was nice and warm when I wore it and I think it will be fine once I have finished the recycling!  I got 552 grammes of yarn from it...

...and 4 pretty buttons...

Next step I will wind the yarn into hanks and steam them to get rid of the kinks.  (The yarn is already clean as I washed it before starting the pulling back.)  Then I will wind it all into balls again, ready for the first project.

So look out for a lot of pink knitting and crochet in the near future!

The other cardigan is in a navy blue ribbon yarn - and there'll be more about that one in a few weeks time!

Was your sweater machine made? I've never thought about pulling back one of these. I'm looking forward to seeing what you are going to do with the pink yarn.

have a nice Sunday!

Love your ingenuity! And the buttons you got as well as the yarn is wonderful! When the thrift shop has its half off sale, I rummage around for items with lots of extra buttons. I found a jumper a couple months ago that had over 50 pink flower buttons.

Zoe's treats sound so yummy!Make me want to go visit the new bakery down the street now.
