Stress, Damn Stress and Computers...

...with apologies to Benjamin Disraeli (apparently). Don't it always seem to be that you don't know what you've got till it's gone (as Joni Mitchell said) and what's gone here is my printer.  Perhaps Golden Eye wasn't just a story and some malevolent influence is hovering over my house, affecting my computer, my telephone and now, my printer!

I was just printing out a manual for my new Hermes Baby typewriter - a bargain at the brocante today - when the printer popped up and gave me a message.  Well, actually, of course, a message was displayed on my computer screen...

...and, I know EXACTLY why this has happened - it's because I have just shelled out £30 on a 3-pack of ink cartridges!  Bl**dy typical!

Considering the printer only cost £50 in the first place, there is no way I'm going to find someone to 'service' it - I'll just have to 'service' it myself - with a new one.  Hope it lasts out until I go back to England in a couple of weeks, but I'm not holding my breath and, of course, the new one is unlikely to use the same ink cartridges as this one!

G'day Penny. What can I say ?? As you know, I have been experiencing my own problems here. Seems to be working ok at the present time, but I have probably jinxed it by talking about it, the rotten thing.!!! Take care. Liz...

I had to get a new printer, mine was drinking ink. The ink is so expensive it is almost as cheap to get a new printer.

Yes, Hewlett Packard started this - they sold their printers cheap and you paid through the nose for the ink. Good business sense, really. I buy all my ink form inkworldwide.co.uk who are very reasonable. Genuine Epsom inks for my printer would cost me over €10 per cartridge here - that's over €50 for the set here - and that's in the supermarket!

So a printer at €50 does not seem so bad...
