The Digital Age (or not...)

In this digital age it is nice to see that some things have no connection with digits. I am talking of non-digital (AKA fingerless) gloves.  Maybe I will re-name them Analogue Mittens...

Anyway, I downloaded a great pattern a few days ago, from here. Meg Hollar's Foliage Mitts.  I have made one pair so far - they don't take long but I didn't have the pattern set in my head till the end of that pair.  Here they are...

Foliage pair

I'm on my second pair now, which I am making a little bit longer.  (I was very tight on yarn with the first pair and wasn't sure I would be able to complete them, let alone make them longer!) The yarn for the pair above was Posh Yarn's Helena, which I had had for years. It is 100% pure, organic merino and beautifully soft and warm. At present they are not stocking this yarn, though Dee says she may do it again...  They have lots of gorgeous other yarns however, so go visit them! I warn you though - they only sell once a week - on Sunday evening - and the yarn goes like hot cakes even though it is fairly pricey!  I can thoroughly recommend them in every way (and they're not paying me to say that!)

The pattern is very pretty and not at all complicated...

Foliage, detail

...and the pair I am making now is in a Quince & Co yarn called Tern, 75% wool and 25% silk.  This yarn feels lovely too!  I made a scarf/shawlette called Piper's Journey in it, which I blogged about here.  It is slightly thinner than the Helena, which is a thickish 4 ply.

Come back tomorrow (or even later today) for a picture!

Do you have a line of little pixies knitting for you? You turn out such lovely things so very quickly.

Lovely pattern and colour. I'm glad it's not the cold that I need mitts.
