Thursday is the New Friday

Today I was convinced it was Friday.

I knew it was Thursday when I got up in the morning, but by the time I had had my orange juice and coffee I was convinced it was Friday!

I went into Le Dorat late morning to take a table to the shop, ready for the Charity Shop Weekend in November (more of that another time) and, of course, to empty the bucket in the fireplace in the kitchen where there is a tiny but persistent drip down the chimney when there is a lot of rain.

It was lunchtime when I got there so, of course, it looked like a deserted film set, although the Boulangerie was still open.

After leaving the table I decided to go to Bellac and get some lunch, as there is a new charity shop there that I went to a couple of weeks ago.  It was, of course, shut, but I thought it probably opened at 2.30 - the time by now being 2 o'clock.  To pass the time I walked down a little side street next to the shop, which led to a viewpoint with a panorama over an old part of Bellac...

There is an explanation of the panorama, painted on china to tell you what you are looking at...

And this is what it actually looks like. On the left the church of Notre Dame...

...in the middle the old tanneries ...

...and on the right the viaduct carrying the railway line from Poitiers to Limoges, opened in 1880...

It's a long time since I went down to this panorama - such a shame there is no decent signage at the top of the road telling you about it and the view!

When I got back to the charity shop it was still closed and it was only when I was on my way home that I realised that today was Thursday - not Friday - and the shop only opens on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays!

Never mind - tomorrow is another day...

G'day Penny. Lovely photos. You did make me chuckle. It is Friday here, though it's very late afternoon as I write this. Take care. Liz...

I know that feeling! I also remember Bellac and the walks round there and the views. We once looked at a little house on the level crossing which interested us - wonder who did eventually buy it?

Very good that it didn't rain and you had a lovely walk and a hill with a view. :-)

I'm sitting here wondering whether if I could convince myself that today is Saturday I'd still have a day of the weekend left ;)

That view looks stunning :)
