Wild Boar are Dangerous!

Last night the phone rang just as I was filling my hot water bottle. It was Edward - he and Pat were coming back from their usual Saturday night dinner in Bellac when a Sanglier (wild boar) ran across the road towards them. It was so close they could do nothing and it hit the car straight on.

The boar and, I think, the car too was a write-off. I picked up Pat and Edward and brought them back home, but we left the car and the boar as they were off the road and no danger to traffic.

This morning we went out to take photos in the daylight before the breakdown truck arrived. The car was untouched, but the boar was gone. Free lunch for some lucky French family!

Mad story. Those beasts are like something out of Jurassic Park.

Alain tells me that by law you are not allowed to take the animal. But then, what is law and what is actually done are two different things in France...

Very common occurance. We were discussing a similar event near us, last week at the factory. A fairly regular twist is that often, people sling the sanglier in the boot, only to have the beast revive, some time later.
Now there is an angry boar in your boot, and you have to open it....
