I Finished a Sock!

Yes, yes, yes! I finished my first sock on 4 needles (five if you count the one I was working with) and it fits, looks good and is superbly warm.

Pretty cool colours too! Regia machine washable sock yarn.

The pattern was Nancy Bush's Peter's Socks and I found it in the front of a book A Good Yarn, by Debbie Macomber, that Sandra lent me.

I shortened the foot length to suit my foot and grafted the toe instead of pulling up the final stitches in a circle as the pattern instructed. Kitchener stitch is not that difficult (thanks to my copy of Teach Yourself Visually Sock Knitting) and gives a much neater finish.

Looks a bit fat in the foot and thin in the ankle, but I imagine that that's due to the elasticity of the wool.

I'm amazed that you can hand knit something so complicated!

It's because the leg part is knitted in a rib, which sort of bunches up when it's not being worn.
