Teacosy Time

Is it my imagination or is there a sudden trend towards making teacosies?  Is it the cold Spring weather?  I wanted to make some to sell at the Curdridge Show in July and eventually came up with my own design, having been inspired by an old Patons design from one of their Bazaar books, I think...

I made some of these before, and they were very pretty, but I was not satisfied with the thickness of the whole teacosy itself, as I didn't think it would keep the pot warm very long, and the fact that the handle was always floppy/  So The other day I sat down to design my own flower basket tea cosy.  I used cream aran yarn (I had a huge 400g ball of this, bought for about £9 when I was in England) DOUBLE, to make the main body, then i-cord with the double yarn to make a more realistic (or so I think) basket handle.  I also made i-cord with SINGLE yarn and sewed it around the 'top' of the basket to form a realistic 'rim'.  Then I filled the top with flowers from my latest flower pattern, and this is the result...

I'm rather pleased with it!

Now I'm working on another, using the same pattern, with a brown basket and poppies as the flowers.  Should be ready soon!

I love your tea cosy, super gorgeous. Glad you liked the flip flops, just need some sunshine now. Endless days of grey skies and rain. It should be warm and sunny in May...it's the law!! Dev x
