Spinning it Out

Time, that is.  I spend much more time spinning than I do knitting now, although eventually I guess I'll have to actually MAKE something with the yarn I've spun, so that'll be the next great adventure. Meanwhile I'm just enjoying the spinning experience and, hopefully, getting better at it all the time!

These skeins are my latest results...

Yellows

...and at present I'm making another skein with yellow, although I don't know what I'll ply it with yet.  (See how technical I am now :-D )

It is a lovely sunny day here, so I took another picture of the Christmas tree in my garden for you...

Christmas Tree 23.12.12

It's more like SEPTember than DECember, but there is snow forecasted for the end of next week. There is a heavy dew in the mornings but no frost for the last few days, so it doesn't really feel like Christmas. (Guess it would for all you antipodeans, but I'm used to old-fashioned British Christmases with snow and fog and ice and rain and freezing cold temperatures.)

Tomorrow I've been invited to lunch with Debra and Ian, which will be lovely and I guess their home will be all festive, whereas all I have is the tree in the garden, a 'Joyeux Noel' sign on my door (with some red baubles and ribbon)...

and little lights up my stairs.  I do like the lights...

Seeing as how it is almost Christmas I have decided to risk spinning some expensive fibre.  A mixture of merino and silk...

It is rather like the oil sheen on a puddle, with lovely stretches of turquoise silk in it...

So far I have spun this much...

...and it doesn't look half bad.

Looks like you've really got the hang of the spinning now, Penny, with your own wheel. :o) It's all looking beautiful.
Je te souhaite de passer un joyeux Noël, de très bons fêtes de fin d'année et beaucoup de bonheur pour l'année prochaine.

The spinning is going well... I always found it very therapeutic, although I haven't spun for many years. Something about the soft whirr of the treadle. Have a lovely Christmas.
