Knitted Cardigan

...for a Sasha doll.

Sarah Williams, who made the  lovely outfit for Françoise that you saw in my last post, suggested I could make knitted items for Sasha dolls and sell them on my Etsy site. Apparently cardigans knitted by another lady have been changing hands, second-hand, on eBay for a LOT of money (the last one sold for £79), so this seemed like a useful way for me to top up my old-age pension!

So I started...

  ...and I unravelled...

    ...and I started again...

       ...and I unravelled...

...and this is the latest effort...

...but it is slow going.  After all, I am using 2 mm needles (the old British size 14) and 4 ply yarn.

I must admit I am a little bit worried as the yarn is one I bought from a hand-dyer and it has a tendency for the blue to come off on my hands.  This means there is potential for it to stain the vinyl of the doll if left on for any length of time, so I feel it would be better not to use it.

Anyone know of a way of permanently fixing the dye (I'm guessing Indigo was used)?  If not, I fear this is yet another attempt for the frog pond!

In fact I'm going to unravel (frog) it anyway and then hank the yarn and try to set the dye properly.  After all, it is no use for socks either (which is what it was originally bought for) if it turns your feet blue!

Blue feet? I remember red shoes I had when I was about 16 years old. One day there was rain and my feet (and white socks) turnded red. :-)
