Lavender Firelighters

At the end of the summer, when the lavender is completely over, but the weather is still warm enough to dry it, I cut my lavender hedge and dry the lavender in bundles.  I hang it on my airing rack in the kitchen to dry...

Lavender Firelighters

In the winter, when my woodburning stove comes into its own, I use the lavender as firelighters.  The bunches contain enough oil to make great firelighters, but also give out a pleasant fragrance.

What a great idea Penny! I really like the smell of natural lavender, it must be great to use these firelighters!
Your kitchen reminds me a bit of my dollshouse kitchen, especially the fireplace there....I will try to link the photo here:

Great way to use the dried Lavender. I also did this when I grew Lavender, it certainly gets the fire going.

Hi Melissa

It does smell lovely now, but I will have to move the lavender if I want to use my drying rack!

I am going to go cut the remain of my lavender right now. To burn it is a great idea! Thanks for the tip, Penny.
